United States market
The US receives 8% more avocados in week 16
With more than 2,000 shipments arriving, the US market saw increased supply and price drops of up to 15%.
The US market again showed strong supply pressure during week 16, with just over 2,000 avocado shipments arriving in the country. This volume represented an 8% increase compared to the previous week and was 52% higher than that recorded during the same week last year.

Mexico maintained a largely dominant role in supplying the fruit, providing 83% of the fruit to the US market, while California contributed 16%. The Dominican Republic had a marginal share, less than 1%, and virtually no shipments were observed from Colombia, nor was there any presence of Peruvian fruit.
The variation by origin also showed differences. Mexico increased its shipments by 10%, while California registered a 3% decrease compared to the previous week. Meanwhile, prices showed declines in practically all sizes, with drops between 7% and 15%. Size 70 was one of the most affected, with a 15% decrease.
According to Antonio Villaseñor, the new harvest in Mexico is progressing normally and is expected to begin in the second half of June. Meanwhile, Sergio Paz noted that Mexican fruit inventory has reached 21,500 tons, while California has 8,500 tons, a level considered adequate to meet the increased demand associated with May 5th, anticipated for week 18.
