Caliber 48 reaches US$41.5 and sets a record in 2026

The United States received 1,571 shipments in week 20, while all calibers reached their highest prices of the year.

The US market saw a sharp increase in avocado prices during week 20. All sizes between 32 and 84 increased in value, reaching their highest levels so far in 2026. Size 48 led the increases, reaching US$41.5 per 25-pound box.

In imports, the United States received 1,571 shipments, a decrease of 3.74% compared to the previous week, although with an increase of 5.37% compared to the same week in 2025. Mexico maintained the market leadership with a share of 75.39%, followed by California with 22.84% and Peru with 0.96%.

The AvoNews columns for week 21 also supported the scenario of rising farmgate prices. Giovanni Cavaletto noted that between May 10 and 20, producer prices doubled. Similarly, Antonio Villaseñor commented that the concentrated supply in few hands caused a rapid increase in prices, a trend that continues to put upward pressure on the market.
