Peru maintains export volume but changes its shipping pace

With 24,137 containers accumulated, the Peruvian campaign shows a stronger start and a slowdown at the end.

The Peruvian avocado export season is maintaining virtually the same level as the previous record year, although showing a different dynamic in the seasonal distribution of shipments. Through week 29 of 2026, Peru has shipped 24,137 containers, compared to 23,391 during the same period in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of 3.2%.

Although the difference in total volume is moderate, the weekly analysis shows that both campaigns followed different trajectories, with key changes at times of greater export concentration.

A faster start to the season than in 2025

During the first eleven weeks of the campaign, the 2026 period showed a significantly higher growth rate than the previous year. While in week 10 Peru had shipped 424 containers, in the same period of 2025 the figure reached only 333 shipments.

This gap widened again in week 11, registering 498 containers compared to 389 the previous year, reflecting an earlier and more dynamic entry into the international market. This initial performance allowed the current season to build a solid lead from its early stages, consistently outperforming previous years.

Stabilization in the central phase and equivalent peak values

As the export season progressed, the differences between the two seasons began to narrow. Between weeks 12 and 20, the export curves converged, alternating between periods of close proximity, although 2026 continued to mark periods of high activity, such as week 17, when shipments reached 1,304 containers compared to 968 the previous year. Despite this, the previous season managed to close the gap, resulting in a much more balanced performance in the middle part of the cycle.

This parity was confirmed by reviewing the peak figures for each year. The highest export volume in 2026 was recorded during week 23 with 1,566 containers, while the peak in 2025 occurred in week 22 with 1,568 containers. The difference of just two containers between the two peaks confirms that both seasons reached equivalent production potential, differing only in how they distributed that flow over the weeks.

Slowing down on closures and diversifying destinations

The main difference between the two years appears in the final phase of the analyzed period. From week 24 onward, the 2025 season consistently surpassed the shipments of 2026. For example, in week 26, shipments reached 1,483 containers in 2025 compared to 1,373 in 2026, a trend that continued until week 29, when the previous season registered 1,362 containers compared to 1,172 in the current year. In short, while 2026 concentrated its strength at the beginning, the previous year maintained greater dynamism toward the end.

Regarding the composition of destinations, the structure remains stable but with clear signs of diversification. Europe continues to be the leading market, absorbing the majority of the volume. However, as supply grows, Asia is progressively increasing its share, Chile maintains a steady flow, and the United States gains relevance during peak weeks. This evolution confirms that Peruvian growth is supported by an increasingly broad distribution across strategic locations.
