Panorama of Hass avocados in Brazil

LOCAL MARKET
April started with low prices and continued to drop week by week... volume wasn't very high, but prices fell significantly! Fruit is ripening well throughout April, and the market is seeing very good quality fruit. With low prices, volume is expected to increase in May.

The current price of Hass avocados at the central supply center, CEAGESP
https://ceagesp.gov.br/cotacoes/ referring to 6/5/2026, it is already low and should go down even more by May, since many shipments ready for export, which did not leave, were directed to the central market of ceagesp.

EXPORT MARKET
April was the month in which Brazil packed the most fruit for export. The main destination was Europe, as the Argentine market had no sales throughout April. We see a slight improvement in the Argentine market for small fruit in May. Europe is not accepting shipments of small fruit, only large ones, so Brazil's dependence on Argentina for small fruit is significant at that time in May. During April, there were some air shipments of large avocados to Europe, but they were sporadic.

FIELD
During the month of April, the producers harvested what the packing plants could pack, fruit of very good quality for that season.
Fruit from mid-altitude zones (Minas Gerais or southern São Paulo) has a dry matter content of 24% to 26%, still very good for export. Fruit from hot (low-lying) zones is at 28%, but that should end by mid-May.
PERSPECTIVES
By May, only a few packing houses will continue exporting; most of the large packing houses will wrap up their campaign in mid-May. Smaller packing houses that ship to Argentina and Brazil must continue operating at low volumes.
With still good dry matter to export, Brazil continues to send, albeit in smaller volumes, fruit to Europe, Argentina, Uruguay and Chile throughout May and June.
