Comments on the Mexican market

During week 4 of the calendar year, Mexico exported 26,695 tons to the USA. The harvest totaled 30,196 tons, so approximately 3,000 tons were shipped to other markets, primarily Canada, which received a third of the remaining volume not exported to the USA.

This week, the pace has continued at the same harvest level, with the expectation that this will be the last week to supply what can be consumed for Super Bowl weekend.

The list of orchards authorized for harvest this week dropped from 43,000 to 37,000 hectares, although the number of orchards is sufficient to cover market demand.

The size curve in Mexico remains dominated by the #48s with 35%, followed by #60s and #70s, with larger fruit to a lesser extent this season.

A reduction in demand is expected next week, as the Super Bowl festivities are expected to consume the inventory that will be available for the event.

Let's hope that demand continues across all sizes and that volume continues to flow steadily.
