Lima, April 2026 – The 2026 Peruvian Hass avocado campaign is projected to close with exports exceeding 765,000 metric tons (MT), representing a 6% increase compared to the 723,000 MT exported in 2025, ProHass reported.
The association explained that the strong growth recorded in 2025 (+38%) would not be repeated this year due to agroclimatic factors and the natural behavior of crop alternation, after an "ON" year in 2025 and an "OFF" campaign projected for 2026.
Europe will continue to be the main destination for Peruvian avocados, with shipments estimated at 488,000 metric tons, equivalent to 64% of the total exported volume. However, the European market is not expected to repeat the 39% growth observed in 2025, which will require careful planning between exporters and importers to ensure an orderly supply during the season.
For its part, the United States would receive approximately 107,000 MT (+6%), while Asia would reach about 82,000 MT (+8%), consolidating its growing relevance for the Peruvian industry, especially in markets such as China, Korea and Japan.
Meanwhile, Chile and Argentina together would represent around 86,000 MT, remaining complementary markets within the sector's export strategy.
ProHass emphasized that one of the pillars for maintaining the international position of Peruvian avocados is strict adherence to its quality standards. In this regard, it reiterated that the fruit must only be harvested when it reaches a minimum of 22% dry matter, a key technical parameter for ensuring proper ripening and quality at its destination.
The association also noted that the industry continues to strengthen its control protocols through ongoing analysis of heavy metals and agrochemical residues, with the aim of ensuring product safety and meeting the demands of the most rigorous international markets.
With these projections, Peru reaffirms its position as one of the world's leading exporters of Hass avocados and as a reliable supplier of high-quality fruit to global markets.
