Mexico increases avocado exports

Mexico

Last week, Mexico harvested 18,963 tons and exported 21,828, representing a utilization rate of 115%. This indicates that a significant amount of inventory was used, especially considering that harvesting only took place over three days due to the Thursday and Friday holidays. Furthermore, fruit shipments to the United States only began on Thursday at noon.

This week, a harvest of approximately 38,000 tons is expected, which should keep sales high and prevent downward pressure on prices. The availability of hectares for harvesting remains stable compared to last week, at 32,000 hectares. However, Jalisco is practically finished harvesting and only represents 5% of the total harvest for both states.

Producer prices have improved slightly compared to previous weeks, and this trend is expected to continue with California also participating in the market. Last week, the market share ratio was 15% for California and 85% for Mexico.

We expect a sufficient supply for the market, especially with California increasing its volume.

I wish you all a wonderful week.
