Ecuador, the productive heart of international markets
Ecuador
Ecuador is establishing itself as a strategic option for international markets thanks to its geographic location and climate. Our country is located on the equator, a point where two major ocean currents converge: the North Atlantic Current and the Humboldt Current, both originating from the south. This phenomenon creates a unique, greenhouse-like climate which, combined with mineral-rich soils and an average of 12 hours of sunlight per year, creates an ideal environment for the production of high-quality fruits and other agricultural products.
Our production strategy is aligned with international demands. We identify key market windows, such as January to March and October to November, allowing us to supply first-world markets with fruit that stands out for its flavor, quality, and ripeness. Unlike countries like Colombia, which have similar conditions to ours and have opted for year-round production, Ecuador prioritizes production windows, optimizing flowering and crop phenological stages to guarantee a high-quality product on time.
The Ecuadorian agricultural sector also benefits from its geographical diversity, allowing production in different regions and seasons. From various areas of the Sierra, with their temperature variations that favor higher Brix levels and fatty acids, Ecuador's true differentiator lies in its focus on quality over volume. This commitment translates into the implementation of international certifications, traceability processes, and a cooperative model that integrates small and medium-sized producers to maintain a sustainable and competitive supply.
The future is promising. With the opening of its phytosanitary market to the United States and the recent free trade agreement with China, Ecuador is poised to diversify its offerings and solidify its position in international markets. If we maintain this focus on quality and sustainability, there is no doubt that Ecuador can become a key player in global agricultural exports.
