Super Bowl boosted record avocado sales

Mexico

Last week, 34,541 tons were harvested for the U.S. market, of which 32,201 tons were shipped, representing a 93% utilization rate. This week, with Monday, February 2nd, being a holiday, a harvest of approximately 28,000 tons is expected.

The hectares available for harvest to the US market this week are 41,213, down 1% from last week and 13% from the same date last season.

The price remains stable at historically low levels, although a strengthening is expected towards the end of February due to the entry of California, a phenomenon that historically occurs.

Fruit shipments for the Super Bowl have broken all records, up 20% from last year. Size distribution continues to be dominated by 48s and 60s.

Mexico remains virtually the sole supplier, with California contributing a small volume. Mexico accounts for 97% of the supply. Mexican exports to other markets continue to be dominated by Canada, with 1,500-2,000 tons per week, and Central America, with 1,500 tons per week.

I wish you an excellent week.
