Week 21: Market conditions slowly improve for the avocado industry in Mexico

In week 21, 18,848 tons were harvested and 14,736 tons were exported to the United States. Market conditions remain somewhat sluggish, and it appears that Mexico is beginning to lose market share in the US, declining each week and now falling below 70%. This is in favor of other origins such as California, Peru, and Colombia.

The supply of fruit is not very large and farm prices continue to strengthen, although it has been in a very gradual way and at a pace far below what was expected for these months.

Today, 2,700 tons were harvested for the US market, and if this pace continues, we will be sending less than 15,000 tons.

The conditions for sizes and calibers remain normal for this time of year, and the sale of fruit, calibers and larger, has been very slow, with the market focusing on more medium-sized fruit.

Hopefully the season will end with enough black fruit and the crazy fruit will help us fill the volume we need.

I wish you an excellent week
