Mexico: challenges regarding price stability and inventory management.

Mexico

In week 16, Mexico harvested 12,958 tons of avocados, while 14,457 tons were exported, due to the high inventory carried over from week 15. To date, the total harvest is 987,254 tons, with 844,926 tons exported to the United States. Approximately 200,000 tons remain to be harvested. Some volume of avocados will likely be harvested in the next season.

An increase in harvest volume is expected next week, making market consumption crucial for price stability. It is desirable that consumption increases and inventories do not accumulate, as this could force importers to lower prices.

The volume of hectares available for this week is 34,607, which represents a 2% increase compared to the previous week.

California has already begun supplying the market at full capacity, which could lead to a trend of smaller fruit in the coming weeks. Combined with fruit from Mexico and Colombia, we may see pressure on smaller sizes.

Next week is Cinco de Mayo Day, so it's important that consumption is significant and that inventories are kept healthy.

I wish you a happy week.
