Mexico: Market Comments Week 13

Demand for Mexican fruit remains strong, with prices rising each week. We finished the harvest last week with 32,912 tons, and 26,846 tons were exported with one less day of harvesting. Inventories have remained at low levels, and overall, the size curve has shifted completely. However, there is a greater demand for sizes 60 and smaller, exceeding the supply in these sizes.

Harvesting continues this week at levels exceeding 6,000 tons per day, but we will only have 3 days of harvesting and 4 days to process and ship the loads to the US market due to the Easter holidays. The volume we expect to export is around 18,000 tons, including last week's inventory that remained in cold storage.

We are reaching 80% of the estimated harvest and for the remainder of the season we estimate that demand will continue to be significant for the month of April.

The important thing will be to see how the price behaves in the field in the coming weeks, as the fruit ends up in fewer and fewer hands each day.

Have a great week everyone.
