Mexico: Market Comments

Week 8 ended with a harvest of 32,310 tons, of which 26,828 tons were exported to the United States. Yesterday, Monday, a large portion of the inventory that remained over the weekend, approximately 3,000 tons, was shipped. The rest of the fruit is going to alternative markets, supplemented by fruit from non-certified orchards, with Canada remaining the predominant market. Total exports to other countries amount to 2,500 tons, but there are some unreported shipments from other states that are not currently reporting to APEAM.

The market experienced a slight price adjustment in the field; the supply of orchards for cutting is practically the same as last week; the harvest was lowered for this week, and some producers decided to wait for better prices.

We expect a March with a good supply of fruit but with a market also demanding volume. Normally with spring, avocado consumption increases in the American market. We must take into account that the last week of March is a holiday with "Easter Week," which will limit the number of days of shipments to the different markets.

The size curve remains very normal, with size 48 predominating at 35%, followed by size 60 at 25%. It is estimated that the curve will remain very stable for the rest of the season.

Have a great week everyone.
