Mexico ensures the supply of avocados to the United States and brings stability to the market.
Mexico
In week 15, Mexico harvested 28,849 tons of avocados and shipped 19,316 tons to the United States market, representing a 67% utilization rate. This indicates that a significant amount of avocados remained in inventory, which will be shipped this week to cover the Easter holidays.
The cumulative volume for the two weeks will be approximately 40,000 tons, which will guarantee market stability and prevent shortages in the following week.
So far, Mexico has harvested 974,296 tons of avocados and exported 830,469 tons, 8% less than the previous season. Approximately 200,000 tons remain to be harvested and exported. The key factor will be determining when the new harvest season begins.
It is estimated that Jalisco will have quality fruit available in May, although likely in small volumes. The fruit supply continues to decline; this week, 34,000 hectares are available, representing a 7% decrease compared to last week.
California has gained more prominence in the market, and Colombia and Peru are expected to increase their volume in the coming months. Let's hope the market remains stable.
I wish you a happy week and a hug for everyone.
