Mexico's Avocado Harvest: A New Year's Gift

Mexico

Last week, Mexico harvested 24,443 tons of avocados for the U.S. market, of which 21,251 tons were shipped, representing an 87% utilization rate. The season's cumulative harvest has reached 662,000 tons, 17% more than last season.

During these holiday weeks, the harvest has been larger than expected, as there is usually less fruit available for picking and most growers wait until January. However, next month we will have a large supply of fruit, which will be crucial to meet the demand for the Super Bowl, the most important consumption event in the United States.

This week, we expect a harvest of 21,000 tons. The available acreage for harvest remains stable at 37,000 hectares, the same as last week. The fruit supply in the coming months is likely to reach a record high.

I wish you a happy New Year and a prosperous 2026, full of success and prosperity for all.
