Mexican avocado exports: US declines, Europe rises

In week 23, Mexico harvested 18,969 tons, of which 14,973 tons were exported to the United States. This is the step the Mexican industry has taken to supply the market in competition with California, Colombia, and Peru, with Mexico holding 62% of the American market.

Week 24 begins with a harvest of 2,425 tons, but the rest of the week the harvest will increase to reach 17,000-18,000 tons, similar to last week.

The caliber curve remains with a majority in the 48s, followed by the 60s and 70s, a curve close to normal in Mexico.

The price at the farm gate has risen significantly in recent days because the remaining volume is relatively low and concentrated in very few hands, making purchases more difficult. The harvest is estimated to be around 95% complete, and the new crop has not yet been released.

It appears that the US market will continue its consumption of 25,000 tons and market supply will remain very close to current conditions, with Mexico being the main supplier but gradually decreasing its market share.

I wish you all an excellent week.
