Mexican avocados are gearing up for the Super Bowl

Mexico

Last week 23,257 tons were harvested and 20,416 were exported, representing an 88% utilization rate.

A significant harvest is expected this week, on the order of 38,000 tons, a very relevant volume for this stage prior to the month of the Super Bowl, when demand usually intensifies.

The area available for harvest within the export program to the United States has reached 40,750 hectares, 9% more than last week, although still 14% below last year's levels. This difference provides a good indication of the productivity per hectare we are observing this season.

The price to the producer has shown a slight improvement. However, supply will remain very high, and we are likely to face weeks of record volumes, necessary to meet the high demand for the Super Bowl.

The domestic market and other destinations have maintained prices very close to those in the United States, allowing some of the fruit to be diverted to those markets. However, these shifts do not significantly impact the volume available for the United States.

The size curve continues to show peaks in the 48s, followed by the 60s. Demand remains very strong for sizes 48s and smaller, while larger fruit has been the most affected by declining sales.

Canada has consolidated its position as the second largest export market, followed by Central America. Asia and Europe continue to participate with marginal volumes.

I wish you a happy and prosperous 2026.
