Decreased supply and market adjustments

Mexico

Last week's avocado harvest reached 18,661 tons, with 15,550 tons exported to the United States. This week, the harvest began with a significant decrease, with a harvest volume expected to be around 15,000 tons.

The supply of hectares has decreased by 13% compared to last week, settling at 24,257 hectares. The US market has four main origins, with Mexico leading with almost 60% market share, although its harvest is nearing completion. California, Colombia, and Peru account for the remaining 40% of the market.

Mexico is nearing the end of its harvest and is expected to begin receiving new fruit in June, with both flowering periods available, although volumes will be low. Farmgate prices have been gradually decreasing, and market stability is expected soon.

A week of concentrated harvest volumes is expected, which could affect prices. The search for new markets and the capabilities of the commercial areas will be key to determining the season's success.

We wish you an excellent week.
