Mexican avocados maintain market momentum and confidence

Mexico

Last week, 29,962 tons were harvested, despite two fewer days of harvesting due to security issues in Michoacán and Jalisco. Of that volume, 24,853 tons were exported, representing an 83% utilization rate.

This week begins with significant inventories and a harvest at full capacity. It is expected to reach around 38,000 tons, maintaining record volumes. The available planted area remains at 39,000 hectares, the same as last week.

The size distribution remains stable, with peaks in the 48 and 60 sizes. Regarding regional share, Jalisco has reduced its export percentage from 10% to 6%, and this will continue to decline throughout March. This will leave Michoacán practically dominating the volume until June-July, when Jalisco's new harvest begins.

The price remains stable, which has allowed for attractive promotions in the market. However, California is about to begin its harvest, and there is an expectation that too much volume will accumulate, as this could put further pressure on producer prices.

In conclusion, the Mexican industry continues to show strength and stability in volumes and prices, consolidating its position in the international market.

I wish you all a wonderful week.
