Morocco reduces exports after peak in 2024/25
The volume exported fell compared to the previous season, in a season influenced by climatic and logistical factors, according to the industry.

Moroccan avocado exports to Europe have entered a phase of redefinition. After several years of rapid growth and a record high reached in the 2024/25 season, the 2025/26 season closed with a significant drop in export volumes, sparking a debate about the true positioning of Moroccan avocados in the European market.
According to figures released by the Moroccan Avocado Association and industry reports, the country exported around 58,000 tons during the last season, a decrease compared to the approximately 112,000 tons achieved in 2024/25. This result comes after a cycle in which Morocco had achieved its highest historical export volume.
The industry itself had projected medium-term growth. However, the results of the 2025/26 season show lower export levels than the previous year, placing recent performance below the peak reached in the previous cycle, according to data from the Moroccan Avocado Association.
The evolution of shipments in recent years shows significant variations between seasons. According to Avobook's data team, Moroccan exports to Europe have exhibited year-on-year fluctuations, with growth between 2020/21 and 2021/22, a decline in 2022/23, a recovery culminating in a peak in 2024/25, and a further decrease in 2025/26. This pattern reflects fluctuations in export volumes over time.
The discrepancies between initial projections and the campaign's results have been attributed by the industry to various factors. These include adverse weather conditions, such as heat waves during key stages of crop development, as well as rainfall toward the end of the season. In addition, logistical difficulties were reported during the period, including port closures, transportation limitations, and shipping delays.
In commercial terms, the European market continued to operate with the simultaneous presence of multiple origins during the marketing window, in a context of diverse supply according to sector information.
Looking ahead to the coming seasons, Avobook's data team notes that recent trends suggest year-over-year variations, projecting a stabilization at mid-level exports. Meanwhile, the Moroccan Avocado Association maintains medium-term growth expectations for the industry, in line with the sector's development.
