Avocado prices in China rise sharply in week 16

The Chinese market went from a single shipment to nearly 200 in week 16, all from Peru, in a scenario of prices that continue to rise.

The Chinese avocado market showed a marked change in week 16 compared to the previous week. After registering only one shipment in the previous period, this time around 200 shipments were recorded, all originating from Peru, a move that reflects a significant adjustment in the arrival of fruit to the Asian market.

Avocado imports to China April 2026

The figure appears atypical for a single week, although it largely reflects a volume that didn't enter the country during the previous period and ended up accumulating in this measurement. Viewed in perspective, the variation becomes more understandable within the typical shipping pattern that Peru shows to China at this time of year. In fact, this intermittent nature had already been noted as a characteristic of this market, so it's possible that this pattern will continue in the coming weeks.

This week, all the fruit imported was of Peruvian origin, with no visible presence from other suppliers. This predominance coincides with a scenario of firm prices, which have been showing an upward trend since week 11.

The price increase has been sustained week after week, and today the price per kilo for sizes 18 to 24 is close to $5.50. This is considerably higher than in previous years and almost double the price recorded during the same period last year. Thus, the Chinese market is once again approaching prices comparable to those of 2023, in a context of particularly high prices for this time of year.
