Morocco faces the avocado season with lower volume, but with quality fruit
Morocco
The avocado season in Morocco has been the subject of much discussion in recent weeks, especially after the heat wave we experienced in June. There was a lot of talk about drastic fruit drops and a difficult outlook for the sector, but the reality we see in the fields today is quite different.
It's true that there has been a decrease in production. We can't deny that the heat had an impact in certain areas and that there will be less fruit than last year. However, it's also true that the sector is growing every year with new farms coming into production. Thanks to this expansion, the final balance isn't as negative as some anticipated. As of today, our estimates point to a decrease of between 15% and 25% compared to last season.
Beyond the volume, the important thing is that the fruit quality is good . The trees are in good condition, the fruit is developing well, and we don't foresee any problems that would compromise the season. In other words, we can expect a very strong season in terms of quality and with sufficient supply to meet the demand of our international customers.
The market, as always, will be watching price developments closely. We are confident that prices will reflect the quality of the fruit and that the season will remain balanced, benefiting both producers and buyers. Morocco has the advantage of being very close to Europe and of continuing to expand its cultivated area each year, which further strengthens our position as a reliable source.
In short, the outlook is not alarming. Yes, we have faced a climate challenge, but we have met it with resilience. The combination of new crops, high-quality fruit, and healthy trees allows us to look ahead with confidence. Moroccan avocados have a season ahead that will undoubtedly live up to expectations .
