Hass avocado market report in Brazil - July 2025

Brazil

Local Market

The Brazilian Hass avocado market in August 2025 continues to experience low availability, leading to increased prices in the Brazilian wholesale market (https://ceagesp.gov.br/cotacoes/). Prices range from R$10/kg to R$14/kg (USD1.85/kg – USD2.6/kg) and are expected to remain at these levels throughout August.

Brazil is finishing the harvest of regularly bloomed fruit, with a dry matter content of 28% to 30%, and beginning the harvest of the "loca" bloom, which has a dry matter content of 23%. This early fruit should supply Brazil until the end of October.

The following shows the historical volume of Hass avocados traded at the São Paulo wholesale market, CEAGESP, including the month of July 2025. It is estimated that CEAGESP represents around 80% of the total volume in Brazil.

Export market

Brazil must reduce its shipments to Argentina and Uruguay to two or three trucks per week for the last two weeks of August. Fruit availability is dwindling, and it is estimated that there are around 600 tons remaining to be harvested.

Shipments of Hass avocados to Europe have ended for the time being, but air shipments of tropical avocados to Europe and Canada continue. In July 2025, 323 tons were exported at an average price of USD 1.77/kg FOB. (https://comexstat.mdic.gov.br/pt/geral)

The average FOB prices for shipments to Argentina and Uruguay in July 2025 were USD 1.77/kg and USD 1.8/kg, respectively. (https://comexstat.mdic.gov.br/pt/geral).

Field

The avocado orchard flowering season is underway, and although it is early to determine Brazil's volume, a large increase is expected, reaching 60,000 tons.

Packing house

Brazil is estimated to have a specialized avocado packing facility with a processing capacity of 800 tons per day (two shifts). With an exportable harvest of 50,000 to 60,000 tons, Brazil can sell its production abroad within three to four months. The majority of Brazil's export volume will be shipped between February and May.

New investments are being made in packing houses specializing in avocados, and these are expected to be operational by February 2026 or for the early window of 2027.
