Avocados: Shall we start again?
We're in Spain, and lately, we've noticed that some distributors are interested in investing in the avocado market across the Atlantic, seeking to secure future supply. What's going on? Or rather, what has happened? Not long ago, investments in this sector seemed to have stalled due to oversupply. We mentioned this in a previous article less than two months ago!
We know that all businesses go through cycles, and it seems that intermediaries are beginning to understand this. Furthermore, consumers are showing a growing interest in knowing the origin of the products they consume and in getting closer to the production process.
This opens up a unique opportunity for the entire business value chain. We must finally understand that this market is sustained by the efforts of producers, who make long-term investments, expecting reasonable returns. However, in this process they face numerous difficulties: packaging, export logistics, freight costs, and, of course, the final market value of their products.
We believe that if we all understand that the greatest effort lies in the work in the fields, in quality production, and that everything else stems from that, we can make this business sustainable over time. In this way, we can serve consumers with a product that is also very healthy.
We are convinced that the future holds something better for Latin America. We are the world's breadbasket, and we must unite to organize ourselves effectively and generate value. It is essential that our agricultural workers receive benefits in the form of education, healthcare, and improved living conditions.
Investments only bring well-being, a benefit that we must pass on to both workers and investors who are betting on the future.
ONWARD, LATIN AMERICA!
