Let's detail the Peruvian Hass avocado supply by producing region

Peru

The Peruvian highlands have already established themselves as an important player in terms of the volumes they export.

In the last two seasons (2024 and 2025), avocado exports from the highlands accounted for 16.80% and 10.23% of the country's total exports, respectively. Between January and March 2026, more than 80,000 metric tons (MT) of avocados were shipped from this region, a figure projected to reach 88,000 MT by year's end. This represents approximately 12.50% of the national estimate, projected at 705,585 MT, a 3% decrease compared to the previous year.

Furthermore, through week 12, export volume is 27% higher than last year, exceeding 3,600 containers. This volume was primarily destined for Europe (75%), followed by Asia (16%) and Latin America (6%). Europe alone registered a year-over-year growth of 39%.

The need to organize shipments

Therefore, it is necessary to separate the estimated shipments from Peru by four-month periods, so that the markets have clarity on the volumes they will receive, especially in Europe, and thus achieve a more orderly marketing.

The proposal would be to divide shipments into three periods: January-April (with fruit from the highlands and part of the north), May-August (peak season), and September-December. This way, markets would have a better overview of arrivals and could organize marketing more efficiently. Speaking of a total of 705,585 metric tons for this season without breaking down the months of shipment will only create a negative impression, even if the estimated volume is lower than in 2025.

Logistical differences by destination

Transit times to our destinations are clearly not the same: the average time to Europe is 22 days, to Asia 25 days, to the United States 14 days, and to Chile less than 10 days. Considering that Europe receives approximately 65% of our volume, we can use this information to maximize return prices for producers.

This season will be especially challenging logistically (costs, frequencies, container availability, etc.), so let's get ready because it 's already started!
