Baika Mexico: Leading the export of avocados with innovation and quality

Baika Mexico has established itself as a key player in avocado exports, supplying fresh, high-quality fruit year-round to demanding markets such as the United States and other international destinations. Despite not yet owning its own orchards or packing facilities, its success lies in its strategic focus on the efficient collection, processing, and distribution of avocados.

Baika Mexico has a distinguished track record in the avocado industry, earning the trust of its clients through its commitment to quality, efficiency, and personalized service. Its market knowledge has been fundamental to its growth and strong market position.

One of the factors that sets Baika Mexico apart is its close collaboration with Naturipe Avocados, a leading company in the marketing and sale of avocados. This partnership has allowed Baika Mexico to export approximately 17 million kilograms of avocados in the last year, focusing primarily on the U.S. market, which absorbs around 95% of its production. This volume reflects its ongoing commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

Baika Mexico operates 52 weeks a year, guaranteeing a constant and reliable supply to its customers. Its main business partners include retail giants like Costco, Walmart, and HEB, for whom they process and package the fruit in specific formats before shipping it to the border city of McAllen, Texas. From there, their sister company in the United States handles final distribution, ensuring that the products arrive fresh and in perfect condition to consumers.

Expanding Horizons

Although the United States is its strongest market, Baika Mexico also exports to Europe, Chile, and Argentina, demonstrating its ability to adapt to different markets and meet diverse international requirements and protocols.

Meanwhile, the avocado season in Michoacán, which runs from June to July, closed last season with an impressive production of 1,138,077 tons, demonstrating the robustness and efficiency of its supply chain.

In 2024, Baika Mexico is taking a significant step toward autonomy and full control of the export process. They are in the process of establishing their own packaging facility, which will be operational by the end of August. This advancement will allow the company to oversee every stage of the process and export, further guaranteeing product quality and operational efficiency.

Furthermore, they are finalizing the necessary certifications for exporting avocados to the United States and other international markets. With certifications such as Primus and Smeta in their final stages, Baika Mexico will be ready to operate independently and directly with retailers like Walmart and Costco. This achievement will not only improve their responsiveness and flexibility but also reinforce their position as a top-tier exporter.

Baika Mexico is in a crucial phase of expansion and infrastructure consolidation. With the implementation of its own packing facility and compliance with strict international certifications, the company is ready to strengthen its presence in the global market. 2024 promises to be a year of great achievements and growth for Baika Mexico, a company that continues to demonstrate its commitment to excellence and innovation in the avocado export industry.
