Avobook Report Preview W49-2024

The United States increased its imports by 17%, while Europe decreased them by 11%.

The Avobook report for week 49 shows that 1,364 containers were imported into the US market in week 48, 17% more than the previous week but 10% less than in 2023. Mexico supplied 97% of the market, while Colombia contributed 2%, and Chile and the Dominican Republic less than 1%. Prices at the border (Texas) remained stable, except for size 60, which saw a 15% increase, and larger sizes reached $67.6 per box.

In Europe, week 49 ended with 658 containers, 11% less than the previous week. Chile led with a 26% share, followed by Colombia and Morocco (22% each) and Israel (21%). While Chilean exports decreased by 39%, Israel increased its shipments to 136 containers. In the Netherlands, prices for large sizes remained stable, but prices for small sizes continued to be low. In Spain, prices for local and Moroccan fruit remained stable.

The Chinese market imported 22 containers in week 49, a 37% drop compared to the previous week. Chile led the market with 82%, followed by Peru with 18%, which continues to ship regularly after withdrawing from the US and European markets.
