Avobook Report Preview W45-2024

The United States saw a decrease in weekly avocado shipments for the third consecutive week, while Europe penalized prices for smaller sizes.

In the Avobook Report for week 45, the United States presents two interesting findings: it is the third consecutive week that total volume has decreased, and prices have increased in virtually all sizes. This week saw less Mexican fruit compared to the previous week, but it still maintains a 95% market share, supplemented by small amounts of fruit from Chile, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.

In Europe, fruit imports also decreased (-8%), with Chile maintaining its market share leadership but experiencing a 25% drop in volume. This reduction is partially offset by increased avocado imports from Colombia (+40%) and Israel (+30%), which this week reached third place in the European market. Prices for smaller sizes are under significant pressure, registering declines that are expected to continue next week.

In China, prices are almost identical to those of the same date in 2023, although the total volume remains low, although it grew by 11%, with the 21 arrivals coming from Chile (75%) and Peru (25%).
