Avobook Report Preview W44-2024

Smaller calibers face falling prices in the United States and Europe

The Avobook Week 44 Report shows that avocado shipments to Europe have grown by 17% compared to the previous week, coinciding with the expected arrival of shipments from countries just beginning their season, such as Spain and Morocco. Currently, Chilean avocados lead the market with 53%, followed by Colombia (19%) and Israel (11%), whose share is expected to grow in the coming weeks.

Prices are falling for smaller sizes in Amsterdam.

The United States market is dominated by Mexico (98%), with California and Peru absent and Chile holding a 1.2% share. Both suppliers declined compared to the previous week, explaining the 9% drop in total volume. Larger sizes are the only ones spared from a massive price drop.

Very little fruit arrived in China (19 containers), mostly from Chile; and the volume arriving is still much lower than on the same date in 2023 (-46%), responding to what has happened for practically the entire year.
