Avobook Report Preview W36-2024

Medium-sized fruit continue to fall in price in the United States, and Europe is receiving more fruit from Kenya and Tanzania.

The Avobook Report for week 36 highlights the evolution of the avocado market in different regions. In the United States, large avocados have maintained stable prices, while medium-sized avocados have experienced a price drop over the past four weeks. Mexico dominates the market with a 75% share, followed by California (17%) and Peru, which has reduced its volume. In Europe, Peru leads with 68% of the market, followed by Kenya and Tanzania (19%), with South Africa, Colombia, and Chile participating in smaller proportions. In Amsterdam, prices for small avocados remain stable, but in Spain, large avocados are stable while small avocados have increased in value.

In China, Peruvian avocados have lost ground to Chilean avocados, which now hold a quarter of the market, although prices fluctuate erratically. Chile has increased its exports, shipping 165 containers, mostly to Europe and smaller amounts to the United States, China, and Latin America. Comparisons with last year are difficult, as the harvest was earlier this season.
