Peru increases shipments to the US by 9% while Mexico, California and Colombia decline

Week 32 of the international avocado market reflected a general contraction in volumes, with some exceptions.

At the close of week 31, approximately 1,348 containers and trucks entered the United States, 8% less than the previous week and 5% below 2024 levels. Mexico led with 59% of the supply, followed by Peru (25%), California (11%), and Colombia (5%). Only Peru increased shipments (+9%), while shipments from other origins declined. Prices fell across almost all sizes, most notably for size 70 (-7%) and larger sizes (-6%).

In Europe, 912 containers arrived, 9% fewer than the previous week but 14% more than last year. Peru maintained its leading position with an 81% share, and only Kenya and Tanzania saw growth (+6%). In Rotterdam, price drops were slight, such as for size 18 (-4%) and size 32 (-3%).

China received 62 containers from Peru, almost 50% less than the previous week. Prices for 18-24 gauge coffee rose 7%, although they remain 32% below 2024 levels.

Peru exported 948 containers, 29% less than the previous week but 38% more than in 2024, with Europe absorbing 62% of the shipments.
