Peru leads exports in Europe while demand grows in the US.
The avocado market saw significant changes in its main destinations. The United States imported 1,564 units via truckloads and containers, a 9% increase over the previous week. Mexico regained ground and reaffirmed its leading position with a 52% market share, followed by Peru (26%), California (15%), and Colombia (7%). Mexico and Peru increased their shipments by 20%, while California's fell by 21% and Colombia's by 9%. Prices showed a 20% drop for large sizes, while medium sizes rose: size 60 increased by 12%, size 70 by 10%, and size 84 by 9%.
In Europe, supply fell to 954 containers, a 9% drop compared to the previous week. Peru led the way with 76%, followed by Colombia (9%), South Africa (7%), and Kenya-Tanzania (7%). Pressure on larger gauges boosted the value of medium gauges. In the Netherlands, 18 gauge rose 3%, while 30 gauge fell 12%. In Spain, 18 gauge fell 25%, and 22 gauge fell 11%.
In China, only 31 shipments arrived from Peru, 73% fewer than the previous week. The trend remains erratic, with weeks of high and low arrivals and no clear pattern.
Peru ended week 27 with 1,427 exported containers, 2% less than the previous week, but 26% more than last year. 54% went to Europe, followed by the US (16%), Asia (15%), and Chile (10%).
