Westfalia strengthens its leadership in Europe with the acquisition of Syros

The integration will allow for an expansion of the range of avocado-based products and the consolidation of a joint strategy focused on sustainability and innovation.

In a strategic move, Westfalia Fruit has acquired Syros, a company with over 30 years of experience producing avocado-based products for European supermarkets, restaurant chains, and meal box companies. This acquisition aims to strengthen Westfalia's value-added business in Europe, while maintaining its focus on the quality, sustainability, and innovation that characterize both companies.

Wim Destoop, Westfalia's regional president for Europe, highlighted that Syros has been a key partner for years, supplying guacamole and other products with high quality standards. "This integration is a natural step that strengthens our presence in the European market and is fully aligned with our global growth strategy," Destoop stated.

With this merger, Syros' brands, including the professional brand Syros and the consumer brand Wonky, join Westfalia's portfolio, expanding its reach to 17 countries. Pieter Casneuf, CEO of Syros, commented: “Joining Westfalia will allow us to continue innovating in tasty and sustainable food, leveraging greater capabilities and a global reach.” The alliance will also strengthen the development of private label brands, with concepts and recipes tailored to the needs of the European market.
