Avocado Territory 2024: The global Hass avocado gathering returns to Medellín in November
On November 27 and 28, Medellín will be the setting for the most important event for the global Hass avocado chain, with a focus on economic sustainability and carbon footprint compensation.
Medellín will host a new edition of Territorio Aguacate in November, the event that brings together the main players in the global Hass avocado supply chain. Katheryn Mejía, director of Corpohass, highlights that the event will include an academic congress with national and international experts, who will address the latest innovations in Hass avocado production and marketing. In addition, attendees will have access to a large exhibition area to network and explore business opportunities.
Sustainability will once again be a central theme of the fair. In 2023, Territorio Aguacate was the first global avocado fair to measure and offset its carbon footprint. This year, it hopes to repeat this milestone, also offsetting the emissions generated by attendees' travel. "Avocados from Colombia, sustainability from the heart" will be the motto guiding this edition.
Territorio Aguacate will also be the venue for the launch of the new national brand: "Avocados from Colombia, Sustainability from the Heart." This distinctive brand seeks to highlight the sector's best practices and its contribution to Colombia's economic, social, and environmental development, particularly in ZOMAC municipalities, historically affected by violence. The event will conclude with Avotours, where participants can visit avocado plantations in the country's main producing regions.
