Recent evolution of Peruvian avocado exports
Peru increases its exports in week 9 and reaches 12% of the European market
Peru registers 304 shipments in week 9, with Europe as the main destination and a share close to 12% of the European market.
Peruvian avocado exports continue to show an increase in the first weeks of the year. During week 9, 304 shipments were recorded departing for various international markets, representing a 6% increase compared to the previous week and a volume 12% higher than that observed in the same period of 2015.
The level of shipments remains on a similar trajectory to that recorded during the past season, reflecting a pace of exports aligned with the curve observed the previous year.
Regarding destinations, Europe accounted for the majority of shipments this week, representing 80% of the total exported volume. Asia was the second most important market, receiving approximately 15% of shipments. Chile followed with roughly 1% of the volume, while other destinations combined represented around 3%.
In the first few weeks of the year, the distribution of Peruvian exports maintains a similar structure. Europe continues to account for more than two-thirds of the total export volume, consolidating its position as the main destination for Peruvian products, while Asia remains the second most important market. The remaining destinations have smaller shares.
In this context, Peru reaches a share of close to 12% within the European market by week 10, positioning itself among the suppliers that compete directly in that destination along with other relevant origins.
