Peru sends 84% of its shipments to Europe
Europe accounted for 84% of Peruvian avocado shipments in the first weeks of the season, solidifying its position as the main destination for the country's avocados.
Avocado exports from Peru continue to grow during the first weeks of the season. Through week 10, the total number of shipments dispatched reached 422, representing a 22% increase compared to the previous week and a volume 27% higher than that recorded on the same date last year.
Overall, the season is following a very similar trajectory to last year's. However, in recent weeks shipments have remained above the levels observed during the same period of the previous season.
Europe continues to solidify its position as the main destination for Peruvian fruit. During the week analyzed, 84% of shipments went to that market, while 7% were distributed among other destinations and approximately 2% went to Chile. In the latter case, volumes have not yet reached significant levels.
Meanwhile, within the European market, Peru's presence continues to grow. In week 11, Peruvian fruit reached a share of nearly 20% of the total market supply.
