Frozen avocado industry
Peru consolidates its power in frozen avocados and accelerates its leadership in IQF.
Peru exported 39,000 tons of frozen avocado in 2025 (+59%) and consolidated its global leadership in IQF, with Sunshine at the forefront.
In 2025, Peru exported 39,000 tons of frozen avocados, a 59% increase compared to the previous year. This result confirms the dynamism of the processed segment within the national agribusiness and consolidates the country as the world's second-largest processor of frozen avocados, second only to Mexico.
Peru's progress is largely explained by its specialization in IQF (Individually Quick Frozen) products. Unlike other countries such as Mexico or Colombia, where guacamole is more prominent, Peru focuses its offerings on frozen halves and cubes—the formats most in demand by the industry—and, to a lesser extent, slices. In addition, there is significant production of fruit pulp, while guacamole has a marginal presence in the export portfolio.
Sunshine Export leads the sector in 2025, with 8,300 tons shipped abroad and a 97% year-on-year increase, positioning itself as the country's top exporter in this category. Viru ranks second with 7,500 tons and a 41% growth, while Agroindustrias AIB holds third place with 5,100 tons and a 30% increase.
The middle group of the ranking also reflects strong dynamism. Agrícola y Ganadera Chavín de Huántar reached 3,200 tons, standing out with a 107% increase. Agroempaques registered 2,000 tons and an 85% variation, while Agroindustria Frutos de Oro and Dominus shared a volume of 1,800 tons; the former with a 31% growth and the latter with a 167% expansion, one of the highest on the list.
Amara Foods reports 1,500 tons and a 54% increase, followed by Camposol with 1,400 tons and a 48% growth. Westfalia Fruit Peru completes this segment with 1,100 tons and a positive variation of 62%.
In the final segment of the Top 15 are Ara Foods Industry and Danper Trujillo, both with 1,000 tons and growth rates of 102% and 106%, respectively. Grupo Tavari registers 0,800 tons and an expansion of 81%, Del Ande Alimentos adds 0,500 tons with a 10% increase, and Agro Frost closes the ranking with 0,400 tons and a 6% variation.
The ranking structure demonstrates not only the consolidation of large agribusinesses, but also the growing integration between the fresh and processed avocado sectors. Several of the companies on the list are also key players in fresh avocado exports, using freezing as a tool for adding value and diversifying their business.
The 2025 performance confirms that processing, especially in IQF format, has become a strategic pillar of Peru's offering. With sustained expansion and a consolidated global position, the country is strengthening its profile as a leader in frozen avocado exports, reinforcing its competitiveness in an international market increasingly focused on industrial solutions and longer shelf-life formats.
