Peru accounts for 67% of arrivals to Europe, while in Chile arrivals double.
The European market closed week 39 with a total of 894 arrivals, a 13% decrease compared to the previous week, although it remains 29% higher than the figures for the same week in 2014. Supply continues to be dominated by Peru, which contributed 67% of shipments, equivalent to two out of every three containers. Kenya and Tanzania followed with 12% each, Colombia with 10%, Chile and South Africa with 5% each, while Mexico had a marginal share, less than 1%.
The weekly trends showed significant variations among the countries of origin. Chile experienced the most marked growth, doubling its arrivals compared to the previous week, with an increase of over 100%. In contrast, Colombia and Peru reduced their volumes by around 20%, which moderated the overall flow to Europe.
Regarding prices, major ports of entry such as Rotterdam registered widespread declines across all sizes, with the smallest sizes being the most affected. Medium sizes also saw price drops, although to a lesser extent. Despite these decreases, prices in Europe remain higher than those observed in the United States, in line with the fruit's weight.
In Spain, the trend was different. There, increases were observed in larger gauges, with gauge 20 registering a 24% rise and gauge 18 also showing a positive trend. In contrast, gauge 14 experienced a slight decrease, with no significant changes in the rest of the range.
