Chile takes a huge leap in its harvests

Chile was expected to start its season strong, but the weather dampened that momentum. However, by the end of week 40, the situation had changed, and harvests saw a tremendous increase in volume. In fact, 417 containers were shipped from Chile to various markets, representing a 68% increase.

The figure also has an interesting feature: it is 6% higher than that of the same week in 2023 and equal to the highest figure presented throughout the entire last season, so now attention must be paid to whether that number will be surpassed in the remainder of their campaign.

Destinations show a clear trend toward favoring Europe, which received 328 shipments, representing 79% of total exports. Next comes fruit shipped to Latin America, accounting for 14% of exports. It is noteworthy that the United States was not among the top destinations, where Chile holds a market share of less than 1%, reflecting what we warned about last week regarding the challenges posed by Mexican competition and the incentive of stable prices in Europe.

Remember that the details of each figure and the weekly evolution of the movements of the world avocado market in all markets and origins can be found in the Avobook Premium Report of Week 41.
