Chinese avocado market remains volatile with a sharp weekly decline

The Chinese avocado market continues to exhibit erratic and unpredictable behavior. During week 28, China received only 31 shipments from Peru, representing a 73% drop compared to the previous week. This sharp decline, however, does not surprise industry players, as it reflects a pattern of intermittent supply that has been observed in recent weeks.

Import patterns in China have been characterized by alternating weeks of high volume—exceeding 100 containers—and others of marked low volume, in which fruit imports can fall below 20 containers. This instability complicates logistical and commercial planning for exporters and reflects the fluctuations inherent in a market that has yet to consolidate consistent demand.
