Dynamism of the Colombian avocado sector

Chile doubles hectares designated for Colombian avocados

The United States leads in terms of authorized area, while Chile stands out by doubling its hectares authorized to receive Colombian avocados.

Colombia continues to expand its base of hectares authorized for the export of Hass avocados to various international markets, according to the update published by CorpoHass on January 19, 2026. The registry considers both the number of properties and the total authorized area, reflecting the consolidation of the country as a relevant supplier in strategic destinations.

The United States remains the primary market for Colombian avocados, with 570 authorized farms and over 16,385 hectares registered, representing the largest available area. Argentina follows with 240 farms and 7,076 hectares, and Japan, despite having fewer production units, has over 6,095 hectares authorized.

Peru has 135 authorized properties covering 5,337 hectares, while South Korea has 3,650 hectares distributed across 36 properties. China, meanwhile, has 11 authorized properties, representing an area of 1,175 hectares.

One of the most relevant findings of the update is the performance of the Chilean market. Chile currently has 2,036 hectares authorized for avocado cultivation, distributed across 17 properties, representing an increase of nearly double compared to previous records, positioning it as one of the markets with the greatest relative growth in authorized area for Colombian avocados.
