The ProHass association promotes the success of Peruvian Hass avocados in the international market
ProHass, which started with 13 producers in 1999, has grown to have 71 associates in 2023, consolidating itself as a key player in the export of Hass avocados from Peru, the second largest exporter in the world.
What began as a collaboration between 13 producers in 1999 now boasts 71 associated producers and exporters. In 2023, Peru exported 558,000 tons of Hass avocados, positioning itself as the world's second-largest exporter.
ProHass has worked to open new markets, expanding from primarily exporting to Europe and the United States to exporting to 73 markets today. The association has facilitated access to the US market, overcoming technical and commercial obstacles.
ProHass has conducted promotional campaigns abroad through the Peruvian Avocado Commission (PAC) and the World Avocado Organization (WAO), increasing the consumption of Peruvian avocados worldwide.
ProHass expects to harvest more than 500 acres of Hass avocado plantations in the future and continues to expand its varietal assortment with varieties such as Maluma, Carmen, and Gem, thereby extending the season and improving prices in the market.
ProHass focuses on improving fruit quality, especially dry matter content, collaborating with the National Agrarian University La Molina (UNALM) to introduce the fruit to the market with higher quality standards.
ProHass has been fundamental in the development of the avocado production sector in Peru, contributing to economic growth and the well-being of small farmers.
