Index Fresh kicks off the 2024 avocado season in California

The start of California's avocado season is cause for celebration for Index Fresh, a network that has dedicated the off-season to preparing for the coming months of harvesting and marketing high-quality avocados. With ideal conditions of rain and nourishing sunshine, the 2024 crop promises avocados distinguished by their impressive size and consistent quality through August.

Keith Blanchard, field manager for Index Fresh, highlights the excitement surrounding the start of the harvest season in California. The company, committed to providing quality and consistency in avocados year-round, prides itself on offering expertise and personalized service to growers and customers. The 2024 California avocado season is estimated at over 200 million pounds, and Index Fresh will handle both the popular Hass variety and California's exclusive GEM, known for its easy peeling and buttery flavor.

Blanchard emphasizes that consistency in the supply of California avocados is key for Index Fresh, achieved through cultural practices and strategic regional partners. With a focus on details such as timely harvesting, pruning, and canopy management, the company has demonstrated the importance of these factors in production.

Furthermore, Index Fresh highlights the environmental and social sustainability of California avocados, grown in the United States. Promotional volumes of fresh California avocados are expected to be available by mid-March, coinciding with Cinco de Mayo and the anticipated spring and summer barbecues. With trees strengthened by winter rains, the company expects to deliver a successful and abundant season of premium avocados.
