Avocado imports in Europe remain stable in week 7
The European avocado market closed week 7 with a total of 624 imported containers, a figure similar to the previous week, with a slight decrease of 1%.
Israel positioned itself as the main supplier with a 41% share, followed by Colombia with 19%, Spain with 17%, Morocco with 11%, Chile with 8%, and Peru with 4%. Peru is beginning to gradually increase its shipments to the region.
Among the main changes in supply, Israel increased its exports by 37%, once again exceeding 200 containers per week. In contrast, Morocco reduced its volume by 62%, marking the steepest decline among suppliers.
In terms of prices, a slight reduction was observed at the port of Rotterdam. The 18-gauge fell by 5%, while the smaller 30-gauge decreased by 3%. Although the variations are not significant, large and medium gauges are showing a downward trend due to the consistent supply from Morocco and Israel.
Although the market remains stable, there is uncertainty about its evolution in the coming weeks. A lower avocado availability is expected in the second half of March, as Morocco, Israel, and Chile reduce their presence in the region. Meanwhile, Peru is not yet putting pressure on the European market due to its high prices, although it is expected to play a more active role in the second half of the month.
