Peru declares "National Peruvian Avocado Day": a recognition of the fruit that is conquering the world
In a show of national pride and recognition of the hard work of the agricultural export sector, the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation (MIDAGRI) has officially established, through Ministerial Resolution No. 292-2025-MIDAGRI, the creation of “National Peruvian Avocado Day.” The celebration will take place every third Friday of August, highlighting one of Peru’s most emblematic and competitive fruits.
The measure was enthusiastically received by avocado producers, exporters, and stakeholders in the value chain, who see this decision as a reward for their constant efforts to position Peruvian avocados as a global benchmark for quality, flavor, and sustainability.
“This achievement belongs to everyone,” said representatives of the sector, highlighting that this recognition is the result of joint work, perseverance and shared commitment over the years.
Peruvian avocados have not only established themselves as an export powerhouse, reaching more than 30 international markets, but also play a key role in nutrition, rural employment, and the country's cultural identity.
In addition to being a symbolic celebration, "National Peruvian Avocado Day" represents a strategic opportunity to promote domestic consumption, strengthen educational campaigns about its nutritional benefits, and open new avenues for commercial positioning in national and international markets.
With this declaration, Peru takes a firm step in valuing its agri-food wealth, paving the way to continue building a more prosperous and sustainable future through its flagship products.
