Brazilian exports fall 23% but Europe remains its key market
Brazil closed week 15 with the shipment of 69 containers of avocados, a figure that represents a 23% drop compared to the previous week and 20% less than in the same week of 2024. Despite the decline, it remains active in the growth curve of its export season, which had its highest point in week 12, with 108 containers.
Of the total exported this week, 70% went to the European market and the remaining 30% to Mercosur countries, reflecting Brazil's clear preference for positioning itself in Europe. This distribution also aligns with the trend so far in 2025, where approximately two-thirds of Brazilian shipments have been destined for Europe, while the rest have remained in South America.
Although volumes have decreased in recent weeks, Brazil has gained a foothold in the competitive European market, accounting for between 7% and 8% of total supply in weeks such as 14 and 15. This visibility is significant considering the diversity of origins that converge on that destination.
With its season still underway, Brazil is expected to maintain a strategic presence in Europe, although it will face the challenges of direct competition from countries like Peru, South Africa, and Israel, which have also increased their volume in recent weeks. The key for Brazil will be achieving stability in its shipments and maintaining the quality of its fruit, at a time when the European market remains demanding and dynamic.
