Europe: Moderate increase in shipments and logistical challenges

This week, Europe received 600 containers of avocados, 17% more than the previous week. This volume is only 3% higher than that recorded during the same period last year, indicating market stability.

The distribution of shipments was notable for Israel's participation, which led with 30% of the total, followed closely by Colombia and Spain, both with 20%, and Morocco with 16%. Chile contributed 13%, while Mexico, with less than 2%, maintains a marginal presence because Europe is not its main target market.

In terms of changes, Colombia saw a 19% drop compared to the previous week, while shipments from Chile decreased by 8%. On the other hand, Morocco increased its exports by 27%, showing a slight recovery.

Regarding prices, updates from Rotterdam reveal a significant increase in the smaller sizes, which saw a 57% rise. Size 18 also rose slightly, with a 3% increase. The high prices for smaller sizes could be attributed to supply shortages, along with speculation in the Colombian market, quality issues at that origin, and logistical delays that have disrupted the usual flow.

In addition, complications were identified in shipments from regions such as Tanzania. The difficulties arise mainly from long transit times and the impact of the conflict in the Red Sea, which has delayed deliveries to Europe, further disrupting market equilibrium.
