The United States recovers its volume thanks to an increase in Mexican arrivals
The Avobook Report shows how the surge in shipments from Mexico to the United States immediately impacted the total volume of avocados in that country, with 1,283 shipments arriving by truck. By the end of week 45, the amount of fruit arriving was 4% higher than the previous week and matched the quantity at the same time last year.
Mexico's influence is evident, as the weekly increase coincides with its recovery in shipment levels, which rose by 6%. This contrasts with arrivals from Chile, which fell by 35%, and from Colombia, which saw an 18% decrease in avocado shipments.
Given this reality, Mexico retains 97% of the market, leaving Colombia with just over 1% and Chile with only 1%, as the closest (although clearly distant) followers.
Prices are almost unchanged from last week, with no significant increases or decreases in any size. In fact, larger sizes rose by only 2% on average, while smaller sizes also saw very slight decreases. For example, size 70 saw a price reduction of only 9%.
