United States: Mexico omnipresent, with prices falling

Each week, the presence of Mexican avocados in the United States grows. During week 38, this trend became even more pronounced, with Mexican avocados capturing 87% of the market, following a significant decline in Californian avocados, which now hold only 6% of the market share, representing a 73% weekly drop.

Peru had already been declining in the preceding weeks. Compared to week 37, it shipped 36% less to the North American market, leaving it with a 3.5% share; while Chile has yet to gain traction and, together with Colombia, accounts for no more than 2% of the total volume.

One factor that has impacted Chilean shipments was the temporary halt of harvests due to rains in that country, which resulted in sending 46% less avocado to the United States.

Larger calibers are showing a significant downward trend in the weekly comparison, while medium calibers have remained stable. An example of what's happening with larger sizes is the 48 caliber, which saw a 21% price drop.

Remember that the details of each figure and the weekly evolution of the movements of the world avocado market in all markets and origins can be found in the Avobook Premium Report of Week 38.
