In Europe, weekly fruit consumption is increasing, both in the year-on-year comparison and in the comparison with the past year.

Europe is experiencing an interesting situation: while for much of the season the year-on-year comparison showed arrivals lower than in 2023, in Week 37 that situation changed: the total supply is 9% higher than on the same date last year and 5% higher than last week.

During week 37, 679 containers were registered: 65% corresponds to Peruvian fruit, followed by the Kenyan and Tanzanian conglomerate, which reaches 20%; while Colombia and South Africa share 7% and less than 4%, respectively.

Although the week saw positive global indicators, a considerable deficit is expected towards the end of October, mainly due to Peru's exit from the market. This is where Chile will have the opportunity to fill the gap. While it currently holds only 3% of the European market, it is expected to increase its shipments in the coming weeks.

Prices in Europe are currently remaining relatively stable at the Dutch distribution center. The situation is different in Spain, where prices have shown a more noticeable increase. For example, the .22 caliber saw a 16% price hike, a trend similar to that of other sizes.

This price increase could continue in the coming weeks, driven by reduced Peruvian supply. Meanwhile, increased demand is expected from Morocco, which has announced the arrival of large volumes, and from Chile, which has also indicated a stronger harvest.
